Las Alpujarras

Sierra Nevada

Trevelez folk

The valleys and foothills on the south side of the massive Sierra Nevada mountain range form an area known to a lucky few as Las Alpujarras. A beautiful, serene landscape of white Berber villages, the Pueblos Blancos. Dramatic gorges and lush meadows carpeted with wild flowers in spring. Always there is the impressive backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, snow covered for much of the year.

Join us for a week in the company of the hospitable locals who always have a smile and an 'Hola' for the visitors. We'll spend a week discovering many of the Moorish villages and treading the Camino Reals, the Royal Ways which were once the main arteries between the villages and now provide some excellent walking routes.

Our pace will be a leisurely one, allowing us to savour the stunning views and absorb the local culture. We'll discover the many delights of the area, the complimentary Tapas including the famed Jamon Serrano - the local air dried hams, a refreshing Tinto Verrano - a long Red wine drink served with lots of ice or a very welcome ice-cold Cerveza.

The week will be a combination of linear walks between villages and circular day walks. We'll stay in 3 different Hotels in 3 different locations, your luggage will be transferred between Hotels when we change location.
