The GR7 in La Taha

Join us on a guided walk along the magnificent GR7 long distance footpath in sunny Andalucia. The GR7 is one of Spain's long distance footpaths, in Andalucia alone this Gran Recorrido covers over 1000km and is itself just a small part of one of the great European long distance routes - the E4, which covers more than 10,000km.

Although our 1 week itinerary can explore only a small section of the GR7, rest assured you will experience some of the very best scenery Spain has to offer.

Our route takes the southern branch of the GR7 in Andalucia as it passes beneath Spain's highest mountain range, the Sierra Nevada. The weeks walking will start at Niguelas, a sleepy village in the Lecrin valley which is on the south west side the mighty Sierra Nevada.

We will head eastwards entering Las Alpujarras, the foothills and valleys on the southern flanks of the Sierra Nevada. Amongst the many highlights of the week we will visit some of the wonderful Pueblos Blancos, the white villages of the Alpujarras including the Poqueira valley villages of Pampaneira and Bubion.

Our week includes a stay in the famous Spa town of Lanjarron and a stopover in Spain's highest village of Trevelez, famous for it's delicious Jamon Serrano , the air-cured hams which can be seen hanging from the ceilings of most of the bars in the area.

Midweek there will be an optional rest day, or for those who just want more of the enchanting walking the area has to offer, there will be the option of a half day walk around the hidden villages of La Taha, deep in the valley of the Rio Trevelez.
