Nordic Walking in Spain
![]() |
Join us for a week of Nordic Walking in the beautiful Las Alpujarras region of Andalucia. The techniques of Nordic Walking are well suited to the many ancient Camino Reals in the area. These are the Royal Ways that in times gone by were the only means of transport between the numerous Berber villages in the area. We utilize these old Moorish byways as well as forestry tracks and some very quiet sections of road. Some of the linking footpaths will require adapted techniques with your Nordic Poles, these are more akin to the use of traditional Trekking Poles. Techniques for coping with varied terrain will be demonstrated and discussed. The pace may be somewhat more relaxed than you may practice elsewhere in Nordic Walking, this is for 2 reasons. Firstly we will typically walk for between 3 and 6 hours per day and secondly, we show due consideration for the hotter temperatures that are experienced in Andalucia. This of course has the benefit of allowing us to appreciate the stunning scenery. We will enjoy stays in 2 different villages during our week in Las Alpujarras and also get the opportunity to spend a night at the lofty height of 2500m in the Refugio Poqueira where dormitory accommodation is provided. This itinerary is open to anyone with an interest in Nordic Walking as the week will allow us to spend some time on basic techniques. Poles can be provided locally in Spain. Please specify Pole length required or tell us your height when booking. The cost for Pole hire is £15 per person per week. General Information:A week of splendid Nordic Walking utilizing the many excellent paths, tracks and quiet roads around the beautiful villages of Bubion, Capileira, Pitres and Trevelez. |
