We'll spend the early part of the week exploring the area around the Poqueira valley in Las Alpujarras. The white hillside villages of Capileira and Bubion provide an idyllic rural retreat with the impressive backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the highest in Europe outside the Alps. Midweek, your whistle stop tour of Andalucia continues with a journey to the remote peninsula of Cabo de Gata for some stunning coastal walking.

This part of Andalucia is one of the hottest and most arid areas of Europe and the inland landscape is very much desert like. Prickly Pear and the symbol of the Natural Park, the Fan Palm abound and demand 'concentration' from walkers! This area is explored at greater length on our Spain's quiet coast itinerary.
